My Connection to SouthEnders
After a lot of trials and tribulations (Oh, the stories he could tell you!), my best friend, mentor, and all around great guy of 30 years, Mel Harris and his wife Nancy have finally fulfilled their long time dream of opening an independent coffee shoppe. It is called SoundEnders, located in, of all places, the south end of the Stapleton development at 2306 Central Park Boulevard, Denver.
SouthEnders’ tag line of “A Gathering Place” is because SouthEnders is so much more than just a coffee shoppe. In the tradition of old Denver, it is in the neighborhood. It’s a local “mom and pop” shop that, if you’re in the neighborhood, you can walk to. And whether you walk or drive, it is a place where you can feel at home. There are several groups, including one of my groups, the Denver Area Access Users Group’s monthly lab, that are already calling it home. Check out their calendar of events to see what other groups are meeting there.
On the walls you will find featured art from local artists. In the evenings and on the weekends, who knows what may happen. Mel’s wife Nancy, The Voice Builder, or one of her many students, may break out in song!
And there’s more to come! Their application for a liquor license has been approved. No, they are not going to be a bar. Their plan is to have beer, wine, and cordials. I’ll tell you what--there is nothing like a hot coffee with a shot of Baileys or a hot tea with a shot of Amaretto to warm your cockles on a cold night!
We are proud to have been selected as the hosting company for SouthEnders’website. Thank you.
The best of success to you, Mel and Nancy.
Keep your eyes open. You might even find me busing tables some night!
